The following questions are some common ones that are frequently asked;

Should I bring my own pet food?

Yes, please bring the food that your pet is accustomed to eating at home.  When your pet is in a
new environment, he or she will appreciate the comfort of eating food that is familiar.   Feedings
are served in stainless steel dishes, so if your little one will eat better from his or her own bowl
from home, feel free to bring that along (do not bring breakable bowls or measuring cups).  In this
case, more is better, so bring a couple extra days worth in case you are delayed in returning home
from your trip.  Most pets eat much better than their owners think they will.  It's generally the
people that say, " Fluffy probably won't eat while we're gone", that don't bring enough food.  This
is not the time to try out a new brand of food for your pet.

What vaccinations are required?

All pets must have a current vaccination certificate from their veterinarian and no sick animals will
be accepted.

Adult Dog vaccinations required: Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza (DHPP),  and Rabies
within three years, or at your veterinarians discretion.  Puppies: Must be at least 8 weeks old, and
had their first set of Distemper and Parvo vaccinations, given at least one week prior to admittance
to insure immunity.  Bordetella (canine cough) is very highly recommended for your dog & puppies
protection.

Adult Cats vaccinations required: Feline Distemper (FVRCP), and Rabies within three years.
Kittens: Must be at least 8 weeks old, and had their first set of Feline Distemper at least one week
prior to admittance to insure immunity.

Other small pet vaccination requirements are determined by your veterinarian
or state laws.   Please check with your vet to see what is required.

Frontline Plus or any other flea and tick preventive products from your
Veterinarian are recommended for your pets protection.

How early should I book my pets reservation?

As early as you possibly can.  This facility is a small, privately owned
kennel, therefore space is very limited on a first reserved basis.

Where will my pet be kept?

Dogs from the same family will be placed in a private indoor/outdoor run combo.  Overflow during
the busy holiday or peak times will be kenneled in crates appropriate to your pets individual size
and taken out several times a day for exercise and elimination purposes.  You will be notified if the
combo runs are booked when making reservations before your pet is automatically booked for a
crate.

Cats from the same family are housed in kitty condos in a separate, but adjoining room to
the dogs.   This room is climate controlled and more quiet and secluded for the special needs of
our feline guests.

Other small pets are kept either in the cages that they are brought in, or in a unit that I supply,
if appropriate.  They will be placed in the same room as the cats.

What should I bring with my pet?

Besides your pet's vaccination certificate and food, nothing else is required.  Phone numbers
where you can be reached in an emergency as well as a local contact are needed.  You may want to
bring some things from home that have your smell on them for comfort.  Clean fleece blankets,
(that can be easily washed in an average sized washing machine) from home are encouraged.   Fleece
blankets are great, as they are warm and are easily washed and they dry very quickly.  Cot or
crate is your pet is accustomed to sleeping on or in one, favorite toys, treats and any medication
that your pet will need while you are away.  Heated pet beds are welcome during the winter months
if your little one tends to get chilled easily.  You are welcome to make your pets kennel as comfy
and cushy as you would like.  Please keep in mind that some pets tend to get destructive while in an
unfamiliar setting, or they may get "caught up in the fun" with their neighbor, of destroying
blankets, toys, or whatever else they can get their teeth into.  Is in not a good idea to bring
treasured items or anything of great value.  We are not responsible for any items lost or destroyed
and will do our best to assure that everything you bring is returned to you in good, clean condition.
If your dog is a "chewer", please let me know in advance.  Charges will be added to your final
boarding bill for any kennel damages.  Frontline Plus or any other flea and tick preventive
products from your Veterinarian are recommended for your pets protection.

How secure is your facility?

Your pets safety is our top priority.  The kennel is very secure, and we are continually making
upgrades to assure the kennel is as safe as possible.  Each outside run has a wire covering over the
top to discourage climbers or jumpers from attempting an escape.  The floor of each run, as well as
the outdoor pen, is concrete to contain any diggers.  Each end panel and outdoor gate is made from
9 gage chain link to keep aggressive dogs from trying to chew their way out.  The entire yard is
fenced with a dog proof perimeter fence to keep stray dogs off the property.  Kennel owners live
on the property, only a short distance from the kennel, and with our own personal watch dogs, know
of anyone that enters the area.  Boarders are never let out of their kennels unsupervised or
unattended.
What will you do if my pet gets hurt or sick?

The veterinarian that you put down as your primary caregiver will be contacted first.  If he or she
cannot be reached in a timely manner, then I will take your pet to the first available licensed
veterinarian.    Please keep in mind that I have not been trained in medical or veterinary medicine,
therefore if your pet has specific health needs or conditions, let me know when booking your
reservation.

I've never left my pet before, what should I do to ensure an easy goodbye?

Keep in mind that your pet is in the best possible care.  He or she will have caring people to attend
to them while you are away.  Food that is familiar, bedding as comfy as you want to make it, and
favorite toys to play with.  Pets generally accustom themselves very quickly to their new
surroundings and enjoy all the new sounds, sights and smells that go with staying at the kennel.
"Single dogs" enjoy the social time they have with their new friends while they are on vacation.
When you leave, be positive and upbeat.  Tell your pet to "have fun and be a good boy/girl!"
Do not apologize to your pet, they will sense your uneasiness with the situation and become
unsure themselves.  Keep the goodbye short and sweet.

What are the advantages of boarding my pet at your facility?

One of the biggest advantages of being a small kennel, is that each boarder gets more personal
attention during his or her stay.  They get checked on frequently during the day.   Each pet has
ample space, rather it be in a dog run, kitty condo, or small pet unit.  No sick animals are allowed
at the facility.  Flexible after hours, weekend, and holiday drop off and pickup times.  Free pick
up and/or delivery in the Winfield city limits.  Since we live on the premise, my last check is
before I head to bed.  Insured and licensed by the State of Kansas Department of Animal Health.
And last, but not least, excellent references  and Professional referrals are available upon request.

What if I'm delayed in my trip and I don't return
for my pet in a timely manner?

If you are delayed in your trip, please notify me as soon as you can.  I will make sure your pet is
well taken care of until you are able to return for him/her.  However, if I do not hear from you
regarding a delay in your return, I may mistake this to mean that your pet has been abandoned at
my facility.  If that were to happen, the Kansas Abandonment of Animals Law will come into effect.
